After scoring a blockbuster with Asuran last year, Dhanush came back on the success track in style. His recent release Pattas was also a hit at the box office. Meanwhile, Dhanush is currently working for the film Karnan, which is being directed by Mari Selvaraj. The shooting of this film is currently in the final stages. From the past few weeks, the media reports have claimed that the film is heavily based on the Kodiyankulam Caste riots. Responding to this, Mari Selvaraj said that his film is not based on any caste riots.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mari Selvaraj said that not only Kodiyankulam caste riots but his film is not inspired by any caste riots in the Southern Tamil Nadu. Asuran was heavily based on the caste politics in the Tirunelveli area of Tamil Nadu. Mari Selvaraj's debut venture Periyarum Perumal is also based on caste politics. Thus, people started believing these rumors on Karnan. However, Mari Selvaraj has cleared off all the air. With this clarification now, we can expect that the speculations will come to an end for once and all.
Karnan features Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead. Yogi Babu and Lal are playing the other important roles in the movie. Kalaippuli S. Thanu is bankrolling the project and Santhosh Narayanan is composing the music for it. Karnan will release in the second half of this year.
On the other side, Dhanush started the shoot for his Hindi film today in Varanasi. Sara Ali Khan plays the leading lady in the movie.
