Dhanush's film, Thiruchitrambalam, hit theatres more than a year later. Dhanush's return to the boy-next-door image after a succession of action films was enthusiastically received by the audience, especially in Tamil Nadu. The total collection figures of the film which hit the theatres on August 18 at the box office are now out.
According to Cinitrack, a leading tracker, the film's global gross is Rs. 101 crore. Out of this, the lion's share of the collection has come from Tamil Nadu and foreign markets. Tamil Nadu alone earned 64.5 crores for the film.25.75 crores from international markets. Telugu States have 3.2 crores, Karnataka has 5.5 crores, Kerala has 1.3 crores, and North India has 75 lakhs. Cinitrack estimates that the total distributor share earned is 46.5 crores.
Produced by Kalanidhi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, the film was distributed by Red Giant Movies. The film received positive word-of-mouth publicity from the start. The film collected Rs. 31 crore from Tamil Nadu alone in the first weekend. India contributed 35.6 crores, while overseas markets contributed 14.65 crores. As a result, the film entered the 50 crore club in its first weekend. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director of the film, which belongs to the musical family drama category. Rashi Khanna, Nithya Menon, and Priya Bhavani Shankar are the heroines of the film. The movie also stars Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, Munishkanth, Sriranjini, and others.
