Cobra Director Ajay Gnanamuthu Defends His Film

Chiyaan Vikram and Ajay Gnanamuthu of Imaikaa Nodigal fame joined hands for a film titled Cobra. After being in the making for nearly three years, the film hit the theatres on August 31 amid huge expectations. Sadly, the film failed to perform well at the box office. After negative reviews from critics and audience alike, the makers decided to trim 20 minutes from the film's run time. The trimmed version of Cobra started running in theatres from Day 2 onwards. Cobra is having a middling theatrical run at the box office. Recently, director Ajay Gnanamuthu took to his Instagram stories to respond to the criticism.

A netizen said that the film's screenplay was confusing. Ajay wrote, "Firstly sorry that you felt confused!! But me as an audience I've always liked watching mind bending films and genuinely tried it this time!! If possible plzzz try watching it again hopefully you like it!!(sic)." Another fan wrote that he fifn't like the climax. The director, in a defensive tone, replied saying, "It's possible to write a climax where Hero smartly escapes and we show him in a foreign location freely roaming around with mass music n all..but ethically it's not right to free that character for the kind of crimes he has done!! Right?? (sic)."
