Chiyaan Vikram Has A Successful First Day At The Box Office Thanks To Cobra

Cobra had a fantastic first day at the box office, taking in over Rs. 20 crores on Wednesday in India. The movie had the biggest opening for Chiyaan Vikram in Tamil Nadu, grossing around Rs. 11 crores. Prior to the release of Cobra, Vikram's 2015 release I, which brought in Rs. 9.40 crores, was his greatest. However, Shankar, the director, was the key inspiration behind that movie. Saamy 2 is his second greatest opening at Rs. 5.40 crores, but Cobra significantly outperformed it. After Beast, Valimai, and Vikram, the opening day had the fifth-highest opening day sales of the year.

The morning show of the movie got off to a great start, but the evening and night time performances could have been better. Pre-sales made up a sizable portion of actual sales throughout the day, despite the fact that it appeared from the pre-sales and the sort of start it had in the morning that it may aim for a greater opening day number of perhaps Rs. 12-13 crores. This can be partially attributed to the unfavorable early reports. Today's decrease in morning shows and pre-sales also supports this.

The movie did well outside of Tamil Nadu as well. Outside of Tamil Nadu, Valimai performed better than Beast and Vikram from this year's releases. It made more money than Vikram did in the Telugu states, taking in Rs. 4.25 crores (Rs. 2.40 crores share). With Rs. 2 crores on opening day, Karnataka too fared well, albeit Kerala could have done better.
