Celebrated Director Goutam Ghose Backs SS Rajamouli’s Epic ‘RRR’ To Earn An Oscar Nomination From India

The Film Federation of India (FFI) is now choosing which films will be nominated for Oscars this year. There is widespread speculation that Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files' and SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' are being considered. Even some foreign media sites are weighing in on RRR's prospects of being nominated for an Academy Award.

The epic period film's size just astounds moviegoers, which makes National Award-winning filmmaker Goutam Ghose delighted and proud, rightly so. “It is indeed a proud moment for Indian cinema. Just imagine the film’s popularity. It had to be re-released across the USA after the western moviegoers showered love on it. Even those who were once obsessed with Hollywood are now calling this film a miracle of some sort. Can you think of any other Indian cinema in the recent past which managed to enjoy such popularity? I think Rajamouli has beautifully explored a blind spot in history for such a cinematic spectacle, and this is by far his most ambitious film. I would love to see him making more and more films like RRR,” said an ecstatic Goutam Ghose during a recent interview.
