OTT platforms have become the main source of entertainment for Indian audiences these days. Thanks to the lockdown, many streaming platforms have come into existence and got a wide user base. The digital content is not censored. Thus, the makers and platforms are coming up with explicit content. This trend is now raising concerns among a section of the people in our country. They are now demanding the government to censor the OTT content. We hear that even the government is planning to implement censor rules on digital content very soon.
India has many OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+Hotstar, Zee5, Alt Balaji, and Sun Nxt. All these platforms are now coming with the shows that have explicit content. Recently, Alt Balaji came up with a show called Uncensored 2. This show featured intimate scenes where the actor is wearing an Army uniform. The show received severe flak due to this particular scene. Eventually, the makers had to cut the sequence. Even Netflix is coming up with explicit films like 365 Days and Basic Instinct. This is to attract the young Indian audiences. Prime Video also came up with an adult show called Rasbhari.
Due to the heavy concerns raised by various people, it now looks like the government is taking steps towards implementing censor rules for the web content. If that happens, we may watch series and films with censored content in the coming days.
