Actress Anna Rajan's ordeal at the hands of the office staff of a private telecom company was in the news yesterday. The actress had visited the institution regarding SIM duplication. Anna Rajan had approached the police with a complaint, but after the employees apologized, Anna Rajan decided not to proceed with the case. Now Anna Rajan is describing what actually happened. Anna's response is through social media.
Anna Rajan’s words:
I am sharing the information myself. I went to their Aluva office yesterday to get a SIM duplicate at a private telecom service centre. I had to face very bad behaviour from the staff there in processing the related matter.
When I saw the lady manager reacting badly to my queries, I recorded the incident on my phone to report it to customer care. The manager lady who was there told me that they would not let me out without deleting the photo I took. Then the staff joined and lowered the shutter of the showroom. He grabbed me and said that I couldn't go out without deleting the photo. Then I opened the shutter and requested that they let me go, but I would delete the photo.
But regardless of what I said, the staffs were disdainful. I informed them that the shutters should be open without disturbing the other customers and that I would come down after the police came. It can be said that I was very scared by this unexpected experience. When I was worried about who to call for help, my grandfather called the politicians who were his friends. (Papa was a Congress worker until his death and served as a councillor in Aluva.) Then with the help of all of them, I went to the Aluva police station and filed a written complaint. Hours later, the showroom employees directly reached the police station and expressed regret and apologised for what had happened.
What happened to me should never happen to anyone again. It is bad to behave like this when a customer approaches for a purpose. Violence and hooliganism do not solve anything. No one should have to face this situation. All are equal. I didn't go there pretending to be an actress, but as a regular customer. The pain that I felt at that moment was the reason why I filed a complaint, so they would realise that what I did was wrong. I don't want to ruin the lives of anyone who works there or let it affect their work because of this problem. Many thanks to the police and media workers who gave me the necessary legal support and to the political activists and leaders who stood by me from my dad's position to stand firm on my rights even though I was scared for a moment. At the end of the day, equality served well is a success for humanity.
