Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is to be credited with teaching many Indian cinema fans the definition of the term "fashionista." Because of her diva-like persona and status as a fashion icon, the stunning actress is responsible for making this phrase well-known. She is, nevertheless, a skilled actress, as seen by her performances in movies like Raanjhanaa (2013), Khoobsurat (2014), Neerja (2016), and others. She hasn't been on the big screen since The Zoya Factor (2019), which was her last appearance. But this year, she'll return with a boom thanks to the thrilling movie Blind. It was also learned that a direct digital release is scheduled.
According to a source, “Blind has been ready for a while and the makers have now decided to release it on Zee5. Due to the unpredictable scenario at the box office, they felt that it was apt that it could premiere on OTT. Also, it’s an edge-of-the-seat thriller and can make for a fine experience for viewers at home.”
However, the movie underwent a long road before the contract with Zee5 was signed. The source stated, “Last year, the makers of Blind had approached Zee5. But the price quoted by the streaming giant to buy the film was less than what the producers expected. Hence, they declined and approached Netflix. Blind is co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh and he is directing and producing The Devotion Of Suspect X, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, for the digital platform. He tried selling both these films to Netflix as a package. But the deal fell through as again, the amount that Netflix was ready to shell for Blind was not satisfactory. The makers of Blind then went back to Zee5 and the deal was locked. It is expected to release in the first quarter of 2023.”
Blind also stars Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey. It is an official remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name, which was directed by debutant Shome Makhija. It tells the story of a blind policeman on the hunt for a serial killer.
The filming of Blind began in December 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland, and was finished on time in February 2021. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja said that due to the pandemic at the time, she conducted her rehearsals on Zoom and walked around the house with her eyes covered. She also disclosed to a tabloid that she would use vision-impaired white lenses for the shoot.
Strangely, the first reports about Blind moving directly to OTT came out in July 2021. However, Sujoy Ghosh admitted in October 2021 that he and the other film's creators are having second thoughts and that the thriller may hit theatres. But it appears that they have returned to their initial strategy of forsaking a theatrical release.
