Actress and BJP leader Sonali Phogat passed away from a heart attack late on Monday night in Goa. She was from Haryana.
The 41-year-old Bigg Boss 14 participant was sent to the hospital after complaining of discomfort to her staff on Monday. Along with some of her workers, she was visiting Goa.
News agency PTI quoted sources saying that she was taken to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa district. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi said she was brought dead to the hospital.
Although a heart attack appears to have been the primary cause of death, further testing is currently being done, he added.
According to information provided by the police, the postmortem is being done at the government-run Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim. Her parents, who reside in the Haryana village of Bhuthan, are en route to Goa.
Sanjay Phogat, Sonali's spouse, was discovered dead at a property in 2016. She was very close to her daughter Yashodhara Phogat, who she had.
Sonali ran for the Haryana Assembly in 2019 from the Adampur seat on the BJP ticket against Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Congress.
