Baz Luhrmann has finally found the Priscilla Presley to Elvis Presley in his untitled biopic on the famous star. Olivia DeJonge of Australian origin played one of the lead roles in Netflix’s The Society released earlier this year. She also starred in M. Night Shyamalan's 2015 thriller The Visit. Austin Butler defeated actors like Ansel Elgort and pop stars like Harry Styles to star as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Elvis’s biopic will follow a 20-year period of Elvis Presley's life as he hit various levels of fame and stardom. It will examine Elvis Presley’s life as a musician with his manager Colonel Tom Parker who will be played by Tom Hanks. Bringing together “America’s Sweetheart” Tom Hanks and social media darlings like Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge to share screen-space is a strategic move which could play out well for the movie.
Upon finally picking DeJonge as his female lead Luhrmann said, “Olivia is capable of manifesting the complex depth and presence that has made Priscilla Presley an icon in her own right. She’s an extremely talented young actor and the perfect counterpoint to Austin’s [Butler] Elvis,”
