Ayushmann Khurrana is currently promoting his upcoming film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in full swing. The actor recently sat down with Anupama Chopra for an interview. Ayushmann got joined by costar Jitendra Kumar and director Hitesh Kewalya.
In the 20 minute long interview Hitesh, as well as Ayushmann, emphasized the need for a commercial film like this. Ayushmann said that he believes Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan needed a mainstream hero to portray a homosexual. Khuranna added on to say that the film needs to reach a mainstream audience and become a popcorn film.
Anupama Chopra also asked him about casting an actor who identifies as gay to represent the community. Responding to which Khuranna said that a lot of actors don't want to reveal their sexual orientations because of the stigma and discrimination that still surrounds it. Chopra also said that in the end, they were very happy with Jitendra Kumar as a fellow cast member.
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan tells the story of a homosexual couple who fall in love. The story revolves around the two fightings for their rights and for acceptance from their family members. The film partially bases on a real-life story. In the interview, the actor also said that it is his duty as an actor to perform such a role.
Ayushmann Khuranna has repeatedly done superhit films back to back. His charm and acting prowess are sure to bring the same value to the film once again with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.
