Arun Govil from Doordarshan ‘Ramayana’ rejected sensual photoshoots

Actor Arun Govil, 71, famous as Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, recently arrived on The Kapil Sharma Show. He came along with Deepika Chikhalia and Sunil Lahri, Sita and Lakshman from the same show. The night marked their Television reunion, after a span of three decades since their show aired on Doordarshan. While this news took the audience on a nostalgic ride, Arun Govil has been breaking the internet with the comments he made on the show. He opened up to the audience and Kapil, that the cast of Ramayana including himself, turned down lump-sum amounts for engaging in sensual photoshoots for magazines.

“While we were shooting for Ramayan, a lot of renowned magazines approached me and the other cast members to do sensuous photoshoots for them. They were so desperate that they were ready to pay hefty amounts of money for it” Arun Govil’s IANS statement read. He also mentioned that the show’s reputation was their responsibility to maintain. The nature of the show automates the cast to live up to their audience's expectations. He said they turned them down, “But none of us accepted their offers and we believed that our audiences look up to and rest their faith in us. We could never take the chance of breaking their trust for money.” Kapil Sharma takes the liberty to joke on Ram’s outfit. He inquired if it was itchy to work with. Deepika Chikhalia, on-screen Sita, mentioned that she got habituated to greet people with folded hands, off-set/screen as well. The episode is to air on Saturday this week, at 9:30 pm.
