Arun Govil and others mourn the death of Ramayana actor Shyam Sundar Kalani

Shyam Sundar Kalani played the roles of Bali and Sugriva in Ramanand Sagar's recreation of Ramayana.

Arun Govil and others mourn the death of Ramayana actor Shyam Sundar Kalani

Tv actor Shyam Sundar Kalani who is perhaps best remembered for his role in Ramayana has passed away. The actor starred in Ramanand Sagar's recreation of Ramayana and played the roles of Sugriva and Bali. There is still no news from his family or friends about the cause of death.
 
Soon after news over the actor's death came on the internet fellow Ramayana actors Arun Govil and Sunil Lahri mourned the loss of the fellow actor. Arun Govil, who played Rama in Ramayana took to Twitter to share messages of condolences. He wrote, "Sad to know about demise of Mr Shyam Sundar who played the role of Sugreev in Ramanand Sagar’s “Ramayan”... A very fine person and a gentleman. May his soul rest in peace (sic)."
 
Sunil Lahri also shared his message on twitter. He expressed his deep sadness over the news and wrote, “Very sad and sorry to hear sudden demise of our colleague Mr Shyam Kalani who played role of sugriv and Bali with us in Ramayan God give peace to his soul and strength to his family to face irrecoverable loss.... RIP (sic)."
 
Recently DD National chose to bring back Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana to national television amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The Broadcast and information minister, Prakash Javadekar announced the re-release of the iconic tv show. Along with Ramayana shows like Mahabharata, Byomkesh Bakshi and Circus are also back on national television. Arun Govil expressed his happiness over the return of the show and said that it will help newer generations learn more about the mythical and religious stories so integral to our culture.
