Anurag Kashyap is back with the musical Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat and he posted the first teaser for the movie on social media. Alaya F and Karan Mehta, a rookie, both appear in the film.
The teaser opens with Alaya portraying a schoolgirl who appears to be smitten with Karan's character. Gulzar's poetry and theories on love are heard in the voiceover as our leads fall in love and break apart. Sharing the teaser, Anurag wrote, Mohabbat Se Hi Kranti Aayegi, a song that also plays in the teaser. Amit Trivedi will provide the music for the movie.
The Marrakech Film Festival hosted the global premiere of Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat. It was performed outside in Jemaa El Fna Square in Marrakech. Anurag Kashyap expressed his joy at having his film receive its world premiere at the festival.
“The film's story has taken shape over the years with my conversations with my daughter and the GenZ. And to realize how our set beliefs and conditioning affect them. To realize that we are migrants to the world today (and) that they are native too. This feels like a new inning. And I am happy that it’s starting with this film,” the filmmaker said in a statement.
Alaya thanked everyone on Instagram following the premiere. She posted a clip from the festival's montage. She wrote, "I've watched this video a hundred times and still can't believe it's real! Thank you for having us at @marrakechfilmfestival. it was such a surreal experience premiering our film Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohobbat on the big screen in the middle of Jemaa El Fna Square with all the wonderful people of Marrakech."
She added, "Can't wait for everyone back home to watch our labor of love...Thank you thank you thank you! I want to say this was a dream come true but it's a dream I wouldn't have even dreamed of dreaming!"
The film, which has the backing of Zee Studios and Anurag Kashyap's Good Bad Films, will release in India in January 2023.
