Actor Sharafuddin says that he was inspired by director Alphonse Puthren to stay in cinema. Sharafuddin said that it was Alphonse who gave him hope, even when he and Shabarish often thought they could not make it to film. Sharafuddin was speaking in an interview with Behind the Woods.
“I don't think he felt that way. There is no such thing. Then there was the time when we stood for cinema. Kichu had a love affair that day.
Alphonse, Sabari and Vishnu Shankar (sound designer) all studied in Chennai. Kichu Muhsin and I are in Aluva. We used sit together when Alphonse comes on vacation. We are here and they are there with the movie discussion in the tea shop.
Occasionally there will be some crisis like this. So when Kicchu had a crisis, Kicchu left and later came back. So after a while we all came down saying we could start a footwear company together. Went down to Aluva for a while and went to all the foot fair shops. Looking at the shoes (laughs) there are so many plans like this. In the meantime, Alphonse will come. He will ask about our plans. I said we were thinking of starting a footwear company. Alphonse said that we should focus only on film.
He said that we should go ahead only with that desire. Alphonse comes back and holds us as we think we need to get away from the movie a bit. That’s how Alphonse brought us to the movies. He brought us in with the movie Neram. Gave opportunity in Premam as well. Alphonse is our inspiration;"said Sharafuddin.
Meanwhile, Sharfudheen’s new film Priyan Ottathilanu has released. Directed by Antony Soni, the film Priyan Ottathilanu hit theatres on June 24. The film stars Sharafuddin, Aparna Das and Nyla Usha in the lead roles. Aparna Das also starred in the Vijay-Nelson film Beast before Priyan Ottathilanu.
