Allu Arjun is popular for his action entertainers. The first film which proved that he can pull off family dramas equally good, was the 2008 movie Parugu. Directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar, this film had hit the screens on May 2nd, 2008. As the film is celebrating 12 years of its release, Allu Arjun fans have started trending the movie on social media.

Parugu follows the story of Krishna who gets kidnapped by Neelakantam, as the latter's daughter elopes with Krishna's friend. Eventually, Krishna falls in love with Neelakantam's younger daughter, making things get more complicated.
The soundtrack of the film got composed of Mani Sharma. Songs like Nammavemo Gani, Manakanna Podiche, and Hrudayam became instant chartbusters. Dil Raju has produced this film under the banner Sri Venkateshwara Creations. It was later remade in Bengali, Odiya, Hindi, and Nepal. The Hindi version, called Heropanti, featured
Tiger Shroff and
Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.
