Alia Bhatt Had Daily Training From Bollywood Actor Pankaj Tripathi For Udta Punjab

Alia Bhatt revealed to Mid-Day that Pankaj Tripathi trained her for a month in preparation for her role in Udta Punjab (2016). Alia portrayed Bauria, a migrant girl, in this thriller drama. Alia remembered how Pankaj had been her instructor for a month. He would help her learn the Jharkhandi dialect and body language by meeting with her every day. Though it was only for Bauria's backstory, she also picked up the sport of hockey.

Alia Bhatt confessed that Udta Punjab was the only time when she fully embraced the idea of ‘method acting. She kept away from her cell phone and worked on her character. She interacted with local youth, etc. She said that she did it to prove to herself, and not to the world, that she was a Chameleon.

Then, Alia Bhatt added that Shahid Kapoor, with whom she was collaborating on Shaandaar, was how she first learned about Udta Punjab (2015). She went to the director Abhishek Chaubey to ask him to cast her. Alia acknowledged that the experienced director wasn't quite persuaded by the initial appearance test. She did, yet, end up landing the part.

Yet, Alia Bhatt added that making the movie was quite difficult. She spent 20 days filming for the part, and she said, I don’t know how I would have survived it for, say, 60 days.”

The work Alia Bhatt did was successful. She received plaudits for her performance and even took home the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Thanks to his roles in movies like Newton (2017), Stree (2018), Mirzapur (2018), Gunjan Saxena (2020), Ludo (2020), Mimi (2021), '83 (2021), etc., Pankaj Tripathi quickly rose to fame after Udta Punjab.
