Aishwarya Bachchan, a Bollywood actress, received a notice for failing to pay agricultural tax. One hectare of her land in the Adwadi village of Sinnar taluka in the Nashik district was subject to an Rs. 21,960 tax that was unpaid. She reportedly failed to pay the tax for an entire assessment year despite numerous opportunities and reminders from the district administration of Nashik. The Sinnar Tehsil Office sent notices to 1200 property owners in addition to Aishwarya. According to the most recent information, her legal counsel has replied to the notification and will pay the debt today, January 18.
On January 17, Sinnar tehsildar Eknath Bangale provided The Indian Express with the following statement: “Legal advisor of the actress met us today and told us that the tax will be paid by tomorrow”. Bangale continued to the media, “She has invested in a windmill. The land was bought in 2009. She has paid the tax for all these years. Only the tax for this particular assessment year is pending.”
He further added, “Our revenue assessment year starts from August. We have sent her demand notice twice but there was no response. Now on January 9, we have again sent a notice to her to pay the tax. We had given her 10 days time, but now her advisor told us that the tax will be paid by tomorrow.”
