Adipurush Director Om Raut Reacts To Negative Criticism To The Teaser

Director Om Raut's Adipurush features Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. The film is based on the Indian epic, Ramayana, and is being made on a massive budget of Rs 500 crore. Adipurush will hit theatres in multiple languages on January 12, 2023. On October 2, the makers unveiled the teaser of Adipurush in 2D. Unfortunately, the teaser was subjected to heavy trolling and it sparked a meme fest on Twitter and Instagram. Many called it a cheap copy of Game of Thrones, Avengers, and Ramayan. A few politicians said that Adipurush has misrepresented Indian culture and Ramayana. Recently, director Om Raut reacted to the criticism that the Adipurush teaser received.

In an interview with Indian Express, Om Raut spoke about the reactions to Adipurush's teaser. He said, "I was disheartened for sure, not surprised because the film is made for a larger medium—the big screen. You can cut it down to some extent but can’t bring it down to a mobile phone. That’s an environment I can’t control. Given a choice, I’d never put it on YouTube but that’s the need of the hour. We need to put it there so that it reaches a wide audience."
