Actor Stephen Greif, Who Starred In The Crown And Blake's 7, Passed Away At The Age Of 78

Stephen Greif, who played prominent roles in Blake's 7 and The Crown, passed away at the age of 78. His agency, Michelle Braidman Associates, tweeted a confirmation of his passing. “With great sadness, we announce the death of our wonderful client Stephen Greif. His extensive career included numerous roles on screen and stage, including at the National Theatre, RSC, and in the West End. We will miss him dearly and our thoughts are with his family and friends”, the Associates stated.

On August 24, 1944, Stephen Greif was born in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England. He was a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art student. He joined the National Theatre Company at the Old Vic and Southbank after receiving his degree. Early in his acting career, he made a name for himself as a master actor who frequently performed on stages and in tv soap operas. He appeared in several theatre productions, such as Macbeth, Richard II, The School for Scandal, and The Merchant of Venice. Later, he appeared in a number of British TV shows, including Dixon of Dock Green, The Protectors, and The Persuaders. At the time he was playing Space Commander Travis in the popular series Blake's 7, he become famous. Grief was not just a skilled actor but also a playwright for both stage and screen. In addition to Henry VIII at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, he has won accolades for directing well-known dramas Romeo & Juliet at the Royal National Theatre. Both of these plays were popular and won appreciation from critics. Greif also teaches in addition to acting and directing. He trained young and aspiring actors in the craft while teaching acting at the School of Dramatic Arts at the University of Southern California.
