Alia recently discussed her decision to take on the role of producer in an interview with NDTV.
When asked how she made the decision to take on two roles at once, Alia Bhatt said that everything just came organically. “Maybe it all worked out together but when I heard Darlings and I heard the narrations I was so taken in by how the genre just shifted very very quickly. It was a very very unique story and it just naturally happened where I was like when I want to act in it I also want to produce it. So first came Darlings and then came my production Eternal Sunshine. So Darlings will always be very very special to me because of that.”
Regarding Darlings, it is a satirical dark comedy. The main character of the novel is a wife who kidnaps her own husband in order to exact revenge for the years of cruelty she endured at his hands. The girl is assisted in this task by her mother. In the movie, Shefali Shah plays Alia Bhatt's mother, and it's clear from the teaser that they get along well together. Alia stated that Darlings is a mother-daughter movie while discussing this. Their unique dynamic was a fascinating feature.
In the meantime, Alia Bhatt recently finished the filming of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which also stars Ranveer Singh. She will also be seen in Brahmastra alongside her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, in addition to this.
