A look at Forbes India Top 100 Celebrities

Forbes' list of top 100 celebrities this year features some surprises, with cricketer Virat Kohli in the first place. His wife, actress Anushka Sharma, is at the 21st place.

Amitabh Bachchan, MS Dhoni, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ranveer Singh have taken the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh spots on the list respectively. For the first time, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone have made it to Top 10 with 8th and 10th rank respectively.

International stars AR Rahman and Priyanka Chopra are at the 16th and 14th spots respectively, just under the ever-popular Rajinikanth (#13). Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's competitor in Tamil films, Kamal Hassan, is far below at number 56. Rajinikanth's son-in-law, Dhanush, has bagged a place on the list a few seats below, at number 64.

Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan, appeared on the list for the first time, in spite of getting mired in controversy over insensitive comments about people's skin color. Meanwhile, Malayalam actor Mohanlal superseded many at number 27 on the list.

Disha Patani and Kriti Sanon also made it to the list for the first time with 45th and 38th positions.

The Forbes list is created based on two parameters. These are revenue earned, as well as the "fame quotient" of the celebrities, which is calculated by Forbes staff,  taking into account things like social media presence and general public presence.
